About

livestream-hdBeta Max TV is a completely free movie streaming service featuring weird genre films from the 60s, 70s and 80s.  You can stream our channel exclusively on Roku.  We feel that paid commercials suck eggs, so we’ve done away with them entirely on our channel.  Instead, BMT has resorted to a crowdsourced approach to help us pay for streaming costs, video hosting and new film acquisitions.  If you would like to help us keep our dream of streaming strange film oddities alive, please consider donating to the cause via PayPal.

If you have any questions, problems, or kudos regarding our cinematic endeavor, send an email to contact at Beta Max TV dot com or hit us up on Twitter and Facebook.

FAQs

Q) Why do some of your movies look so bad?
A) Many of them have been treated horribly over the years, due to their public domain status.  We’re always on the look out for new acquisitions and better versions of the movies that we already have in our library.

Q) I have a short film that you should play on Beta Max TV.  How do I get it to you?
A) Email us a link at contact @ Beta Max TV dot com.

Q) I don’t have a Roku player.  Is there any other way for me to watch Beta Max TV?
A) As of this time, no.  We are only streaming on Roku.

I love your new Roku channel so far. I had a Betamax and then a Super Beta but never made it to the ED Beta. I wish I still had it. This is an awesome name for your channel as well. I was wondering if you will you be playing “The UFO Incident” with James Earl Jones and Estelle Parsons anytime soon? Also maybe you can put the guide on the page where we make the decision to either go to the live stream or use the VOD. Thatway we don’t always have to go to the website to see what’s on or coming up soon. We can use the Roku channel for everything. Keep up the great work Beta Max TV. Steve

Thanks for checking out the new channel, Steve. Glad you are enjoying it. As for “The UFO Incident”, we don’t have the rights to show that one right now, but if we ever do come across them, I’ll let you know. I really like your idea about the channel guide. We’ll keep it in mind when we begin to look at improving the design of the channel in the future. Thanks again for checking us out and if you have any other suggestions or requests, be sure to let us know.

I randomly stumbled on to your channel earlier. I love the late nite Monstervision kind of feel it has. The movies are wonderfully horrible. Keep up the good work!

      Thanks for checking us out!

Love the name and love the channel.

Very reminiscent of the original Drive-In Theater series on The Movie Channel in the mid-1980’s except that this is 24 hours a day instead of just 2 hours a week.

Also find it very cool that this service has movie hosts and that it keeps finding rare movies that hadn’t been seen anywhere else before, it seperates this channel from the other services that tend to offer the same 30 or so movies and little else.

Anyway, thanks for all the hard work and effort and thanks for having such a wonderful streaming channel.

I have a question, but first off Betamax TV is amazing! It reminds me of watching TV as kid, kung fu, sci-fi, and action movies during the day and horror movies at night! But my question is, at time I try to watch the live feed and it tells me this movie is rated R and viewer discretion advised, it stays on that screen and never moves. If I try and press buttons it either sends me back to the main menu or says next show begins in: and has a count down timer. How do I just watch the movie? Thanks for what you do and keep it up!!

    • johnary

Thanks for watching Nate. Those pre-show rating screens are built into the schedule to run 10 seconds before several of our movies. Unfortunately there’s no way to skip through them as the stream is live. Sorry about that.

Ok I let mine sit for ten minutes and I lit didn’t ever load past it. I will try again next time. Thank you and again keep doing what you’re doing!!!

  • Oh, man! Sorry to see this channel go.

We may have a few snakes up our sleeve. Announcement coming soon.
